Background: 

India is predicted to be one of the fastest growing economies in coming years and it is already the fifth largest economy based on quarterly gross domestic product (GDP) numbers in current dollars for the period ending December 2021. Consistent with the heightened stature of the Indian economy, the regulatory framework for financial markets in India has evolved with several key strategic policy initiatives. These changes throw up both opportunities and challenges. Against this backdrop, financial markets need to further adapt and evolve. The goal should be to make the markets more future-proof, mindful of increasing likelihood and frequency of ‘black swan’ events.
